Alriiiight! So, I found out that over at CentsationalGirl today is an Ornament Party! Needless to say, I'm SUPER EXCITED, cuz ornaments are one of the things I DO make!! And love and enjoy!
First, I'm gonna showcase my purchased ornaments, because I love them as much as my homemade ones!
Monsieur Cat, as I call him. A gift from my friend Maggie last year :P
I got a plastic baggy full of ornaments and stuff at the thrift store! I love this ice cream cone!
Got this one from my Nana's tree after she died.
I love teddy bears and angels. So it's no surprise I bought this bear the moment I laid eyes on it at Walgreen's last year.
And of course, an homage to the Nutcracker with these beautiful ballet slippers.
My roommate and I are both big Disney fans, so a Disney-themed ornament was a must.
Part of my thrift store bag of ornaments. I love the antiquated look of it!
Another, separate, thrift store find. :) My love of teddy bears again.
DUBBLE BUBBLE!!! My favorite bubble gum. :D
This Precious Moments ornament just didn't want to hold still long enough for me to take a clear picture, but I think you got the point. :P Again, related to me - I LOVE presents! I love wrapping them, love giving them. So it's no surprise that I wanted this ornament when I saw her.
A suuuuuper creepy Santa from my thrift store bag. XD I realized I didn't have a Santa at all, so I put him up, but especially with his proximity to my Precious Moments ornament, he's just a tad on the creepy child molester side of jolly.... XP
And a kitty cat. This I bought in memorial to my kitty cat Simon who was hit by a car a couple years ago. :( I miss her!
And now for the HOMEMADE ORNAMENTS!!!
I'm a sucker for those clear glass ornaments that you can purchase from Michael's and places. I love painting them and filling them with this and that. I'd painted a whole bunch last year, none of which I can find now, but no matter, because I also have these!
Clear Glass Ornaments Filled With Stuff! :D
I'm a packrat, a stuff whore, so I just have raaandom stuff lying around everywhere. What I love about clear glass ornaments is, if you can fit something through the hole at the top, you can make an interesting ornament - oftentimes something unique and particular to you, that has it's own story, as you will soon see.
Come on, who DOESN'T think of Mardi Gras around Christmas Time? XP Just kidding.
Tinsel!
Some pink material from my roomate's Glinda "Popular" dress (from Wicked), along with some pink glitter of my own.
Some silvery blue material from my roommate's Cinderella costume.
Can you tell what's in this one? It's some torn denim from my friend Eric's pants. XD Odd, I know, but I use what I have, lol! And I think it looks rather neat and interesting!
Yes, those are Jack-O-Lanterns, from a garland I had last year. XD I had one extra clear ornament with nothing to put inside, so I used what I had! I rather like it!
However, these are my pride and joy:
And here's mine, with my ceramics-ornament from this year beside it. (Yeah, I'm Megan! Hi!)
I like to make ornaments for both my family and friends every year. Last year, I was in a jewelry class, and decided to go ahead and take advantage of my access to tiny drill bits to make holes in those scrabble pieces (which I discovered after the fact was from a game from 1942. Whoops?).
The shapes were purchased super-cheap from Michaels, thin red and green wire from Joanns was used to hang the letters. To make them so circular, I wrapped them around a pencil to make a coil, then cut with my wire cutters right down one side. They are not saudered or glued or anything, just pressed shut. Relatively easy project, if you have a tiny drill. :P
And here is the whole setup! We have a little kitty so the tinfoil/painters tape duo was a must to keep him from gnawing on my precious ornaments. I really dislike the star - it's just so ho-hum compared to the rest of it! I am in the market for a new one - maybe I'll just make one out of tinfoil and cardboard... Up to the left there is my wreath - with a computer-paper paper chain adorning it and a snowflake ornament in the middle. On the right, a stocking from Michael's (I like penguins, too!), with Crookshanks and Scabbers, because our apartment is lovingly named The Burrow. :)
Merry Christmas! Hope you liked!

Introductions All Around!
For the last, uhhh... probably half a year, I've been totally, completely, and utterly sucked into interior design and decorating blogs, and have had my nose glued to HGTV like no other channels exist (Okay, one other channel exists -- Cartoon Network is one channel down, so it's easy to flip through if I've already seen that episode of House Hunters :P).
I loved watching all my favorite bloggers (of whom I'll list later) talk about their latest thrift store finds, how they changed the look of this or made that, how they put up these and how they pulled that off. I never thought I could get away doing it myself. (I make so many blogs, it's kinda disgusting).
Well, I've decided to give it a shot! Tune in for my next post! (It'll be like 20 minutes :P)
So, some stuff about me! My name is Megan! (Hi! *waves*). I'm 21, still in college as a painting student, still living mostly off my parent's money, and I'm just beginning to discover my own taste in decor.
Should I be writing an essay or studying for finals right now? YOU BET! :P
